Goodbye Seoul, see you again! 6.7.2012

Goodbye Seoul! :( I had an early flight back to Finland so my friend had promised that he'd take me to the airport. This way I wouldn't miss my flight (like Maiju did :P). We took the airportbus together and when I had my plane tickest we said goodbyes. There is nothing interesting about this day so I'll just leave it like this. I spend the whole day in an airplane sleeping so how can that be interesting?

So, back in Finland now. It's a bit cold here and I'm working right now. So that was my summer vacation this year because I'm going directly to school when my work ends. How nice. -___- This blog will be dead for a while until I go and explore the world again. >:D I think we're going to Stockholm in Autumn but let's see what happens. ^^

Wistfully I go to a hiatus now. See you again!

Alone in Seoul part 4, 5.7.2012

My last day ;____; I came back from Yeosu really early and made my way back to my hostel. The plan for today was this: Shop with all the money that I have left and in the evening meet with my local friend. And that's what I did. I made a shopping list for myself and went to Coex again. This time I DIDN'T get lost. :D It was fun to shop alone, a bit strange but fun. I bought a lot of BB- cream, CDs for my friends, a new skirt, accessories and a lot of other things. After shopping I went to sit alone in a cafe and just followed the people around me. It felt like I was living in Korea. :)
Back in the hostel I talked with the owner and with a French girl. She was studying about urban citys and how the grow and what the differences are in France and in Korea. We looked at her study books and she explained me about urbanization, gentrification and things like that. It was so cool! 8)
In the eveing I met with my friend. I was raining really heavily (just my luck) so we just run to the nearest cafe. We just talked and decided to go to karaoke (note to myself: never go to karaoke with a korean). It was fun but I'm not good at singing so... yes. We got hungry after singing so again we run to the nearest restaurant that we found. :D Lastly we went to a movie theater. After that it was time to say goodbye. :(

... I don't feel like writing at all today but I have to do this now or I'll forget everything. :D
Photo updates from the last week coming later! Hopefully today.

From Seoul to Yeosu, not so alone anymore 3.- 4.7.2012

I went to Yeosu with my friends to see the world expo thing (which was really interesting). I woke up reeeeaaaaly early (I found out later that Justin, my hostel manager, was wondering where I went even though I told him I'd be leaving early and coming back in a few days) and made my way to the train station to wait for my friend. The train ride was nice. I could see how the country side looked like in Korea. We had to switch trains near Mokpo but it was ok. The trains were quiet full because everyone was going to Yeosu.
When we arrived to the train station in Yeosu we took a taxi and went to search for our hostel. We left our stuff there and went back to the train station because the expo area was right next to it. The aftrenoon tickts weren't available yet so we went to eat first. There was a food stand where you could buy obentos. Yay for that! :D After we ate we went to the ticket line to wait.
Once inside the expo area we went to explore "the first floor" (notice there were many buildings and the area was outside. Only the pavillions were inside. Well, maybe I put a picture of the map here later). The Swiss pavillion was interesting and cool. You made a trip inside a mountain and and... yes, you'll see from the pics later. We just run from one pavillion to another. In the evening we went to see the Big O- show.

The next day we went to a light house near the expo area first. The aftrenoon tickets weren't yet available so we explored the area near it. We also visited a seaweed farm. It sounds strange but to me it was really interesting. One of the staff members explained me about the project, how the seas are in a bad condition and how we could help to maintain the balance in the seas. I don't think my friend was that interested but I was totally impressed by it. :D
When we got to the expo we went to the aquarium first. <3 I loooove aquariums! There were some ahjummas who thought I was my friends girlfriend. -____- But we kindly explained that we are just friends. :D Again we were just hanging around the area and we went to see different pavillions. But it was fun. And I could eat TAKOYAKI there <3 In the evening we watched a musical but sadly I couldn't understand much of it because they didn't speak english. -___- Of course.

It was time for us to go back to Seoul. We left really early in the morning, around 5am or so. Luckily we didn't have to change trains this time so I was able to sleep. ^^

My last day in Seoul. ;~~;  I'll write about it soon!

Seoul alone part 3, 2.7.2012

HI~!
Yes I'm back in Finland now but I still have to write down all the days don't I?

So, this day was on of the best days in South Korea! First I met with my finnish friend. I went to a place that is near her university but I can't remember the name of it, kkkk. I had made plans to go eat dinner first and then just hang around in a cafe. Both of us carved for japanes food so we went to search for a japanese restaurant. We found a few and ended up in a place where I could eat ramen. <3 Oh, how I missed real ramen. The place was nice and the food was absolutely good (or maybe I was too hungry to even notice the taste..). Anyway, we ate in peace and just talked about different things. Nothing interesting there. And after that we just went to a cafe to talk some more. :D I don't know what to write about it so I'll just skip that part.
It was time for my adventures again when I had to find my way back to the hostel. It was quiet easy actually. I got already used to the system and if you have the subway map on your phone it's really easy. So I made my way back to the hostel and got ready for the next meeting.
I met with my old friend whom I had met back in Finland. I hadn't met in 3-4 years at all! I was afraid that it would be awkward but oh how wrong I was! We were like best friends and she is so sweet so my worries were for nothing. We met in City Hall and walked from there to Itaewon (if I remember correctly). We went to eat in a korean restaurant and shopped for some souvenirs for my friends. We had so much fun and I hope I can meet her again when I go back to Korea.

And that was my quick update. ^^

My first day in Seoul alone 30.6

Today Maiju had to go back to Finland. We WOKE UP at 6am and took a bus to the airport. I went with her to make sure that she woulnd't miss her flight again. There was no problems with her tickets or anything so she made it safetly to the plane. ^^ And then the fun part for me began; how to get back to Hongdae with the subway. Well I just started to search for the subway. I had no idea where it was but I just followed the subway signs. kkkkk. At first I went to the wrong ticket machine but after looking around I found the right ones behind my back. In the subway station I met an amrican soldier who was lost (?)and asked me for the way to Seoul. So I told him how to get there. In the subway he started to talk to me and we decided to have breakfast together. We went to an solder base (no idea if that's the right name). At the gates I had to give my ID and passport to them and they wrote down some information. After I got my passport back (I had to leave my drivers licence there) we made our way in the rain to a hotel (yes there was a hotel in side the walls). The whole place looked like a small town inside a big city with taxis, hotel, houses.. At the hotel I was able to eat western style food and FRUITS and real orange juice. I was soooooo happy! I hadn't eaten fruits for 3 weeks. So we ate our food and then we decided to go to see a movie. We took a taxi and went to a shopping mall (I can't remember the name). The movie theater was upstairs. We choose to see the new Spiderman movie but of course we choose the wrong ticket machine and it broke when it was supposed to print our tickets. When we went to the counter to ask they started to speak korean to my new friend (because he looks asian) but he doesn't understand it at all so it was me who spoke (well tried to speak) with them. But in the end we got our tickets and went to see the movie. I think it was pretty good. I don't normally like that kind of movie but it was good. After the movie we went to a book store because I wanted to buy a korean study book for myself. Sadly my fever started to rise again and I decided to go back to my hostel to sleep. We made plans to meet again in the evening to have late dinner.
So we met again in the evening but all the restaurants were closed already. We just hanged around Sincheon and went to buy croistants and bread from Paris Baguette (hope I wrote it right).

And that's all for that day.
What, this update isn't late.. ehehe...

Seoul alone part 2 1.7

Hmm, I really want to write about this day because it's a day that I don't want to forget. ^^
Actually I didn't do much in the morning, I woke up quiet late and just did my morning routines. When I was ready I went to Kyobo book store in Gwanghwamun. I just walked around there and bought Korean study books for me and Maiju. I found some Japanese magazines but I didn't buy any. I might go back later to buy one. :D From Kyobo I went back to Hongdae. I had to meet my friend in the evening and didn't have anything to wear so I went to shop for new clothes. I found a really cute dress that I wanted to buy but it might have been a bit too much so I ended up buying a shirt.
I didn't want to be late from our meeting so I left early. But of course the curse, that when I'm earlier in the meeting place than supposed then the other one is late, hadn't forgotten me so I had to wait for my friend (date?). And why does the wifi hate me? Anyway, we went to eat to this italian restaurant and it was a really... romantic place. The food was good, and even though my friend kept saying that it's expensive it was the normal price in Finland. So I was fine with it. From the restaurant we walked to Han river and just hanged around there. We listened to some live music and played in a fountain...

Hmm, yes, it was a really good day. ^^  Now you can go to youtube and listen to Yirumas song The Moment. Somehow it is like the mood when I was with my friend.
(mwahahah I skipped one day again :P)

Flights, panic, fever 29.6

Today I did absolutely nothing. My fever had gotten worse and I just wanted to sleep so it would go away.
The morning was horrible, Maiju woke up at 9am and her flight was at 10am.. Needles to say but she missed her flight and was in a panic. Me.. I was only sleeping and didn't help her at all because honeslty I didn't even know what was going on.
Well in the end she bought herself new flights for the next day.

It's not fun to be sick when you are in Seoul. :<
